BLAC’s Five Year Anniversary Gala will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025 at the newly restored Book Tower Building downtown Detroit, Michigan. Detroiters and friends from around the globe will share in an evening of hope, highlighting the amazing accomplishments that BLAC is making every day in our communities. The proceeds from this year’s premier gathering will go to fund our Ground Up Initiative’s housing, mentorship and programming efforts.
Since 2021, this initiative has provided dozens of young Detroiters with tangible support as they transition from foster care, homelessness, abuse, neglect, the criminal justice process and other challenging circumstances.
The evening will begin with a strolling reception and silent auction. To follow, there will be live music and entertainment, great food, special presentations, as well as several special guests!
Come ready to enjoy an unforgettable evening in the beautifully restored atmosphere of the historic Book Tower building. It will truly be a night to remember!

The Black Legacy Advancement Coalition is a movement committed to building Black power by providing education and resources that uplift our communities. Founded in 2020, this grassroots organization has significantly invested in capital projects that have renovated property while renovating human lives. This work has been realized through our Ground Up Initiative, an effort to revitalize property while revitalizing lives in some of Detroit’s most historic Black neighborhoods.
The Coalition champions the restoration of our communities, as well as the holistic development of young adults ages 18-35, through our Ground Up Leadership Program.
The Coalition regularly hosts workshops and events to disseminate practical knowledge that will elevate our members’ consciousness and quality of life.
None of this work would be possible without the dedication of our volunteers, the generosity of our sponsors, the commitment of our partners, and the love of our neighbors, family and friends!
